You can join VRA at any level using the VRA Member Portal:

Annual Dues

The membership or subscription renewal is based on a 365-day cycle with an annual renewal (anniversary) date as opposed to calendar year, e.g. if membership is paid or renewed on December 23rd of this year, the member will be prompted to renew by December 23rd of the next year.

Full Membership entitles you to receive all benefits of the Association, including discounted registration fees for the annual conference and educational resources available through the VRA Member Portal.

The following rates go into effect May 1, 2022:

  • Student, Retired, Unemployed/Hardship, and New Member (First Time Individual Member): $50

  • Individual: $100

  • VRA Advocate*: $150

  • Institutional (includes three full memberships–one primary and two secondary members. Additional secondary members may be added for an additional fee, contact join@vraweb.org for more information.): $250

* VRA Advocate memberships help offset the cost reductions for student, retired, unemployed and new members. If you’re able to, please consider joining as a VRA Advocate.

Membership renewals not received by the renewal date may result in a lapse in membership benefits.

Payment

Full payment must be received before benefits of membership can be activated. VRA accepts payment online via credit card. If you need to pay with an alternative method, please reach out to join@vraweb.org to discuss your options. Special payment methods can be scheduled with advance notice.

Membership FAQ

Q: How do I become a member?

A: To join VRA you must complete an online membership form and submit payment. VRA offers a reduced rate for first time Individual Membership. Click on “New Membership Application.” Once your form and payment are received your membership will be processed.

Q: What is the difference between and institutional and an individual membership?

A: Individual memberships are available to anyone who has completed a membership application form and paid the dues. Institutional memberships are available to any organization, firm, association, or other institution who has completed a membership application form and paid the dues. Institutional membership allows for up to three representatives with full member benefits. Additional members may be added for an additional fee of $100 each. Further information on membership classification is available in the Association Bylaws

Q: How do I subscribe to the VRA-L?

A: Subscription to VRA-L is open to VRA members and professionals in related disciplines at any career stage that focus on the Association, the profession, and related topics and technologies. You can enroll at https://www.vraweb.org/vra-l

Q: My Institution pays for my membership and they require an invoice for payment.

A: When you join the association, fill out the membership form as directed in #1. For payment select “pay later,” and you will receive a confirmation email which most institutions will accept for payment. In future years you will receive an invoice prior to your renewal date.

Q: Do you accept purchase orders for membership fees?

A: Unfortunately, the Association does not accept purchase orders.

Q: I’ve changed jobs, how do I update my contact information or how does my institution update my membership record with my replacement’s information?

A: In the VRA Member Portal you can update your contact information, including email address and Institutional affiliation. Institutions and Individuals can contact join@vraweb.org for assistance.

Q: I have not been receiving VRA-L messages for the last few weeks and I just tried to send a message to the listserv but I got a message saying I was not authorized to send messages. What could the problem be?

A: Likely the email address you are sending your message from is not the one that you are subscribed under. Confirm that you are using the correct email account.

Q: I forgot my username and/or password to the VRA Member Portal. How can I get this information?

A: If you forgot your username and/or password click on the “forgot your password” link and enter your email address. This information will be emailed to you. Please note that if the email address you enter does not match the one in your Member365 profile you will not be able to get this information following these directions. The Membership Services Coordinator does not have access to passwords but can resend the welcome email with log in information. Contact join@vraweb.org.

Q: It is July and I am just now renewing. Are membership fees prorated?

A: The membership renewal is based on an annual renewal anniversary date as opposed to calendar year. If membership is paid or renewed on July 1st of the current year, the member will be prompted to renew by July 1st of the following year.
