The Chapter is established to further research and education in the visual resources profession and to promote a spirit of cooperation among regional members of the profession. The purposes of this chapter are to establish a continuing forum for communication of information and ideas, and for advancement of matters of mutual interest to the membership.

Upcoming Meetings:

The VRA Midwest Chapter Fall 2017 business meeting will be held at the University of Chicago on Friday on Friday, October 13 in conjunction with the Midwest Art Cataloging Discussion Group (MACDG).

The schedule:

9:00-10:00: Tour of newly-redesigned Smart Museum (5550 S. Greenwood)
10:00-11:00: MACDG Meeting (University of Chicago, 5540 S. Greenwood, CWAC 152, coffee and pastries provided)
11:00-12:00: VRA Midwest Meeting
12:00-1:30: Travel to Loop and eat lunch (on your own; recommend Pret, Cosi, etc. on Michigan Street on the way from the El to the Cultural Center)
1:30-2:45Chicago Architecture Biennial (Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington Street)
3:00-4:00: Tour of the Video Data Bank (112 S. Michigan Ave)
4:10-5:30: Tour of the Flaxman Library, School of the Art Institute of Chicago (37 S. Wabash Ave., includes main collections, technical services, and special collections)
5:30: Optional dinner at Revival Food Hall (125 S. Clark Street)

*Please note that you will be responsible for transportation between the University of Chicago and the Loop. Please buy a Ventra pass in advance to take the 55 bus to the Green line or $2.25 in exact change for a bus ride and transfer. The trip will take about 35-50 minutes.

RSVP to Bridget Madden at bridgetm@uchicago.edu so we can provide accurate headcounts to those giving us tours. Please also include any discussion topics of interest for the meetings.

VRA Midwest members are encouraged to attend the MACDG meeting and vice versa, but it is not mandatory. Remote connection to the VRA Midwest will be offered through WebEx. Please email bridgetm@uchicago.edu if you plan to attend remotely.
